You can find it by clicking the link at the top of the main page of our blog. It's titled, creatively enough, our 2011 gardening.
Here is where we are so far in our progress: we've ordered the seeds.
Yes, we've ordered our seeds from the Seed Savers Exchange. I wish I could tell you what particular varieties we've selected, but the Hubster placed the order and consequently received the email confirmation and I haven't yet seen the full listing. I was involved in the selection and final order, but honestly my memory is weak these days. After all, I'm now operating on 6.5 years of not having a full night's sleep. The joys of being a mama! :)
Here is the general listing and I'll update it with specifics later on:
- bell peppers
- jalapeno peppers
- beets
- peas
- cucumbers
- corn
- green beans
- acorn squash
- tomatoes
- broccoli
- spinach
- lettuce
- carrots
- thyme
- basil
- oregano
- parsley
In addition we still have the following perennials:
- strawberries
- raspberries
- blueberries
- rhubarb
- apple trees
- mint
Once again I have plans to dig up part of the remaining grass in the front yard and convert it to gardening space. Since the baby girl is a bit older this year I think I can pull it off. After all, she only naps once a day right now.
We also have plans to dig up and move the strawberries. They'll be residing in the two beds alongside the driveway after their relocation.
The bed they had been in is in need of rebuilding and that's just too difficult to do with the strawberries in residence. They also need to be thinned and that's a great time to do it.
We have a few other beds that need rebuilding as well. I write as if I'm involved, but really the Hubster handles all the construction. I do mix the soil and move that, so I guess I'm involved to some extent.
If memory serves, those are the only big projects we have on slate for 2011.
Here you see our 2011 garden plan. I don't have a scanner right now since we upgraded our desktop computer and the scanner we did have is no longer compatible. You can click on the pictures to open a larger version.

Your plan looks so organized!! We still haven't planted any seeds yet and are running out of time. We actually have two growing seasons: March-May and August-the first frost, whenever that is. I may be too late for the first season and have to buy seedlings from Home Depot, again!
ReplyDeleteWe're in zone 5B so our last frost date is mid-May here. We'll be starting some seeds inside later in March and might try planting some seeds (like carrots) in late April if we can work the ground then.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise we typically plant hardy seeds in mid-May and the tomatoes and peppers in late May (traditionally Memorial Day weekend).
We can plant a second crop of some items - like beets or green beans in July and can plant greens and lettuces in September for a second crop, but we're pretty much a one-season area.
